Happy Holidays! The Observer and the REVIEW&EXPRESS each published a combined holiday edition with the dates of Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2024 and Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2024. There is not a new paper for Dec. 25. The next new edition is Wednesday, Jan. 1.
The office is closed on Monday, Dec. 23 and will reopen Thursday, Jan 2.

Dundee-Bradford
Girls Basketball
The Dundee-Bradford girls basketball team opened the Section V Class C2 tournament with a win against Naples, 77-17, Friday, Feb. 23.
Kendall Parker scored 28 points for the BraveScots. Kailey Yeoman added 12 and Alissa Eaves had 10. The girls played Caledonia-Mumford in the semi-final round, Monday, Feb. 26. The girls won 50-42. Stats were not yet available at press time.

Indoor Track
The New York State indoor track qualifiers were held at Nazareth University, Friday, Feb. 23. Dundee-Bradford's Peyton Mullin took ninth in the shot put with a 32' 2.25" result.

Boys Basketball
The Dundee-Bradford boys basketball team opened the sectional championship with a loss to Genesee Valley-Belfast, Wednesday, Feb. 21. The final score was 62-39. Aidan Webster scored 11 points, Chris Clancey added 10 and Jeremy Stiles posted eight.

Penn Yan
Indoor Track
The New York State indoor track qualifiers were held at Nazareth University, Friday, Feb. 23.
Recording results for the Penn Yan Mustangs were: Anthony Wheeler (seventh - 1,000 meter run and 17th - 600 meter run), James Tette (fifth - 3,200 meter run and 12th - 1,600 meter run) and Anthony Sciallo (12th - shot put).

Boys Basketball
The Penn Yan boys basketball team lost to World of Inquiry, 66-47, Friday, Feb. 23 in the second round of sectionals. The Mustangs opened the championship against Wayland-Cohocton and posted a win, 64-41.

Girls Basketball
The Penn Yan girls basketball team lost to Dansville in the opening round of sectionals, Wednesday, Feb. 21. The final score was 35-19.

Hammondsport
Boys Basketball
The Hammondsport boys basketball team began their sectional run with a win over Houghton Academy, Saturday, Feb. 24. The final score was 54-48. The boys now move to a game against Avoca-Prattsburgh, Tuesday, Feb. 27. Results were not available by press time for this edition.

Girls Basketball
The Hammondsport girls basketball team lost to Charles G Finney, 52-26, in their second sectional game, Friday, Feb. 23. The Lakers opened the tournament with a win against Friendship-Scio, 46-33.

Watkins Glen
Girls Basketball
The top-seeded Watkins Glen girls basketball team won their opening game of sectionals against Bainbridge-Guilford, 42-20, Friday, Feb. 23.
Rachel Vickio posted 16 points and 15 rebounds in the game. Brianna Hatch added nine points and Addison Coolican had seven.
The Lake Hawks now take on Unatego in the semi-final game, Tuesday, Feb. 27. Results were not available before press time for this edition.

Indoor Track
The Watkins Glen indoor track team competed at the New York state qualifiers, Sunday, Feb. 25.
Madison Tuttle finished first in the 1,500 meter race walk finals, beating the second-place finisher by nearly 20 seconds. The time was 7:26.98 and sends her to the state finale, Saturday, March 2.
Kyren Young finished fourth in the 300 meter dash with a time of 37.30.

Boys Basketball
The Watkins Glen boys basketball team lost to Oneonta in the sectional tournament, 70-46, Wednesday, Feb. 21.

Odessa-Montour
Wrestling (O-M&WG)
Schuyler Storm wrestler Lucas Hoffman competed at the New York State Public High School Athletic Association finals, Friday and Saturday, Feb. 23 and 24. He was fourth overall, falling to Logan Bellis of Tioga in the third-place title bout by a pin in 3:19.
To reach the third-place match, Hoffman beat Jesse Straus, Talon Kimball and Dylan Depew-Cappadonia.

Girls Basketball
The Odessa-Montour girls basketball team lost to Stamford/Jefferson in the first sectional game in Class D, Tuesday, Feb. 20. The final score was 50-43.
