Happy Holidays! The Observer and the REVIEW&EXPRESS each published a combined holiday edition with the dates of Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2024 and Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2024. There is not a new paper for Dec. 25. The next new edition is Wednesday, Jan. 1.
The office is closed on Monday, Dec. 23 and will reopen Thursday, Jan 2.

Dundee-Bradford
Indoor Track
The Dundee-Bradford indoor track team competed in the Class A4/A5 Championships at Nazareth University, Saturday, Feb. 17.
Peyton Mullin took the title in the girls shot put event with a 32' 2.25" throw. She was also third in the girls weight throw.
Madison Hughes finished third in the girls long jump. Ryan Longmore was third in the boys shot put.

Girls Basketball
The number one-seeded Dundee-Bradford girls basketball team will get a home game on Friday, Feb. 23 at 6 p.m. to open their sectional run. The team will face the winner of a game between Naples and Cuba-Rushford.
The BraveScots concluded the regular season with a win over Honeoye, 51-27, Tuesday, Feb. 13. Kendall Parker led with 25 points. Kailey Yeoman added nine.

Boys Basketball
The Dundee-Bradford boys basketball team will open the Section V Class C3 tournament as the eighth seed and face Genesee Valley-Belfast, Wednesday, Feb. 21 at 6 p.m.
The team lost to Honeoye, 51-41, Wednesday, Feb. 14. Aidan Webster posted 13 points, while Alex Goltry and Chris Clancey each had eight.

Penn Yan
Indoor Track
The Penn Yan boys varsity indoor track and field team took a close second place in Class A3 Sectionals last Sunday. Penn Yan had four sectional first-place titles. They came from Anthony Wheeler in the 600 and 1,000 and JD Tette in the 1,600 and 3,200 meter runs. Tony Sciallo took second place in the shot put.

Boys Basketball
The Penn Yan boys basketball team opens the Section V Class B1 tournament playing Wayland-Cohocton, Tuesday, Feb. 20. Penn Yan is the sixth seed and Wayland is 11th.
The basketball team won against Red Jacket, 53-47, Wednesday, Feb. 14.

Girls Basketball
The Penn Yan girls basketball team will play Dansville in the opening round of the Class B sectionals, Wednesday, Feb. 21. The Mustangs are seeded 15th, while Dansville is second.
The girls finished the regular season with a win over Midlakes, Wednesday, Feb. 14. The final score was 34-30.

Bowling
Penn Yan varsity bowler Connor Andersen was named to the Section V Composite Team that will head to Syracuse to compete in the New York state tournament on Saturday, March 9.
Last Thursday, the boys varsity bowling team finished second in Class C sectionals. Colin Johnson led all Class C and D bowlers with a high game of 289 (10 strikes in a row) and a high series of 1345 for six games. He was named to the All-Tournament Team and received a trophy as the best individual bowler of the day.
On Tuesday, the girls varsity bowling team finished second in Class C sectionals. Anella Tillman was named to the All-Tournament team. Tillman will also represent Section V on the girls composite team at the New York state tournament on March 9.

Hammondsport
Boys Basketball
The fourth-seeded Hammondsport boys basketball team plays in their first sectional game, Saturday, Feb. 24 at home. The Lakers compete in Class D and play fifth-seeded Houghton Academy.
The Lakers lost to Arkport-Canaseraga, 59-30, Wednesday, Feb. 14.

Girls Basketball
The Hammondsport girls basketball team is the eighth seed in Class D and will face Friendship-Scio in a home game, Tuesday, Feb. 20.
The basketball team concluded the regular season with a win against Addison, 44-30, Monday, Feb. 12.

Watkins Glen
Swimming (WG&O-M)
The Schuyler Storm swim team won the sectional title for Class C, Saturday, Feb. 17 at Watkins Glen. The Storm had 445 points to runner-up Chenango Forks' 392.
Vinnie Ocasio and Liam Smith each had one first place and three seconds on the day. Ryan Dean had four second-place finishes, while Carson Thaete posted one win and two second places.
Max Ricca won the diving event with a 314.75.

Boys Basketball
The Watkins Glen boys basketball team will open the Section IV basketball tournament as the 14th seed and take on Oneonta, Wednesday, Feb. 21 on the road at 6 p.m. Oneonta is the third seed in Class B.
The boys concluded the regular season with a win against Spencer Van-Etten, 74-40. Ryan Willett had 21 points and five rebounds. Christopher Simiele posted 13 points and seven rebounds. Alex Holmes led with 12 rebounds.

Girls Basketball
The Watkins Glen girls basketball team is the top seed in Class C for the Section IV tournament and will play at home on Friday, Feb. 23 at 6 p.m. The contest will be against the winner of a game between Southern Cayuga and Bainbridge-Guilford on Tuesday.

Indoor Track
Watkins Glen's Madison Tuttle took first in the girls 1,500 meter race walk at SUNY Cortland, Saturday, Feb. 17. She finished with a 7:26.75.
Isaac Hendrickson was second for the boys in the race walk event. He had a  8:26.25.

Odessa-Montour
Girls Basketball
The Odessa-Montour girls basketball team opens its sectional run with a game against Stamford/Jefferson, Tuesday, Feb. 20 at home. O-M is the seventh seed and S-J is 10th.
