Happy Holidays! The Observer and the REVIEW&EXPRESS each published a combined holiday edition with the dates of Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2024 and Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2024. There is not a new paper for Dec. 25. The next new edition is Wednesday, Jan. 1.
The office is closed on Monday, Dec. 23 and will reopen Thursday, Jan 2.

Dundee-Bradford
Girls Basketball
The Dundee-Bradford girls basketball team beat Addison, 70-19, Saturday, Jan. 20. Kendall Parker scored 25 points. Bruna Crespo added 16 points and Kailey Yeoman 11.
The girls also won against Naples, 54-16 and Marcus Whitman, 57-30, last week. Parker led with 30 points against Naples and had 20 versus the Wildcats.

Boys Basketball
The Dundee-Bradford boys basketball team won against Naples, Friday, Jan. 19. The final score was 49-35. Alex Goltry scored 10 points and Aidan Webster had eight. The team lost to Penn Yan 58-47, Wednesday, Jan. 17. Jeremy Stiles posted a season-high 17 points and Webster added eight.

Indoor Track
The Dundee-Bradford indoor track team competed at RIT, Saturday, Jan. 20. Top-five finishers included: Peyton Mullin (second-shot put) and Madison Hughes (fifth-55 meter dash).

Wrestling
The Dundee-Bradford wrestling team faired well at the Wayne-Finger Lakes Championships last weekend. Peyton Mullin took first place, Caleb (Cubby) Bartlett was third, Gage Machuga finished in fourth and Jacob Bartlett was sixth.
Mullin won a first-place trophy in wrestling and took second in shot put (with the indoor track team) on the same day.

Penn Yan
Bowling
The Penn Yan Mustangs traveled to Sodus last Friday to challenge the Wayne Eagles. the boys and girls teams swept, 5-0. The boys won 2835-2463 and the girls 2645-2326.
The boys were led by Connor Andersen with a 648 series and Colin Johnson with a 568 series.
The girls were led by Julia Maldonado with a 600 series and Anella Tillman with a 586 series.
The boys and girls defeated Geneva, 5-0, Tuesday, Jan. 16. Andersen led the boys with a 668 series and CJ Miller had a 655. Other competitors included: Jaxon Jensen (623), Johnson (620) and Cayden Pinneo (591).
The girls were led by Tillman with a 638 series, Maldonado posted a 567 and Taylor Morse had a 502.

Boys Basketball
The Penn Yan boys basketball team lost to Canandaigua, 65-53, Friday, Jan. 19. The team won over Dundee-Bradford, Wednesday, Jan. 17. The final score was 58-47. Liam Chapman had 22 points.

Girls Basketball
The Penn Yan girls basketball team lost to Wayne, 48-45, Friday, Jan. 19. The Mustangs also fell to Midlakes, 54-46 and Gananda, 54-33, last week.

Indoor Track
The Penn Yan indoor track team competed at RIT, Saturday, Jan. 20. Top-five finishers included:
James Tette (first-1,600 meter run, 4:47.80 and first-3,200 meter run, 9:41.47), Anthony Sciallo (first-shot put, 43' 9.75"), Anthony Wheeler (second-1,000 meter run and third-1,600 meter run) and Cynthia Kriegar (third-shot put).

Wrestling
Penn Yan's wrestlers participated in the league championships, Saturday, Jan. 20. Podium finishers included: Alexa Breeds (second), Ty Conover (third), Reed Bouchard (third), Levi Hilton (fifth) and Jacob Eaves (fifth).

Hammondsport
Boys Basketball
The Hammondsport boys basketball team fell to Avoca-Prattsburgh, 71-48, Tuesday, Jan. 16. The Lakers also lost to Andover-Whitesville, 63-49, Monday, Jan. 15.

Girls Basketball
The Hammondsport girls basketball team won over Alfred-Almond, Friday, Jan. 19. The final score was 57-10. The Lakers lost to Avoca-Prattsburgh, 58-48, Wednesday, Jan. 17.

Wrestling (Avoca-Prattsburgh/Hammondsport)
The wrestling team beat  Fillmore/Keshequa, 39-18, Thursday, Jan. 18. Competitive wins were recorded by: Orion Davis (pin 3:05), Justin Wise (pin 5:17), Chase Mummey (10-8 decision-OT) and Tristan Davis (pin 5:01).

Watkins Glen
Girls Basketball
The Watkins Glen girls basketball team beat Whitney Point, 62-35, Friday, Jan. 19. Addie Coolican recorded 14 points and Rachel Vickio added 11.
The Watkins girls topped Odessa-Montour, Tuesday, Jan. 16. The final score was 49-19. Olivia King led with 12 points and Vickio added 10.

Boys Basketball
The Watkins Glen boys basketball team fell to Whitney Point, Friday, Jan. 19. The final score was 60-53. Sam Caslin posted 17 points and Alex Holmes had 12.
The Lake Hawks defeated Odessa-Montour, 36-27, Wednesday, Jan. 17. Ryan Willett recorded 15 points and Jude Santos had eight.

Swimming (WG&O-M)
The Schuyler Storm swim team won against Dryden, 96-65, Thursday, Jan. 18. Carson Thaete recorded four first-place finishes and Andre Wixson had two. Max Ricca also won a race and was third in two others.

Odessa-Montour
Boys Basketball
The Odessa-Montour boys basketball team won against Spencer-Van Etten, Friday, Jan. 19. The final score was 55-40.
The boys fell to Watkins Glen at home, Wednesday, Jan. 17. The final score was 36-27.

Girls Basketball
The Odessa-Montour girls basketball team lost to Spencer-Van Etten, 41-37, Friday, Jan. 19.
The girls also fell to Watkins Glen, Tuesday, Jan. 16. The final score was 49-19.

Wrestling (O-M&WG)
The Odessa-Montour and Watkins Glen wrestling team placed fourth in the IAC championships at Newark Valley. Tioga won the event overall.
Lucas Hoffman took second with a 6-3 decision. Dana Guild was also second with a 5-2 decision and Aidan Summers was second with a 1-0 final match loss.
The wrestling team won over Moravia 30-27, Wednesday, Jan. 17. Competitive wins were recorded by: Riley Yaw (pin 1:31), Hunter Barrett (pin 1:39), Daniel Coston (pin 3:06), Joey Chamberlin (pin 0:29) and Aidan Summers (pin 0:22).
