Happy Holidays! The Observer and the REVIEW&EXPRESS each published a combined holiday edition with the dates of Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2024 and Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2024. There is not a new paper for Dec. 25. The next new edition is Wednesday, Jan. 1.
The office is closed on Monday, Dec. 23 and will reopen Thursday, Jan 2.

Dundee-Bradford
Girls Basketball
The Dundee-Bradford girls basketball team defeated Mynderse, 68-39, Friday, Jan. 5. Kendall Parker led with 24 points. Kailey Yeoman added 15 points, while Bruna Crespo and Makayla Schoffner each scored 10 points.
The team also posted a win over Romulus, Thursday, Jan. 4. The final score was 56-17. Parker recorded 22 points. Cheyanne Grandall contributed six points, four being free throws.

Boys Basketball
The Dundee-Bradford boys basketball team won against Campbell-Savona, 52-12, Saturday, Jan. 6. Chris Clancey led with 15 points. Jeremy Stiles added 10 and Aidan Webster posted seven points with seven assists.
The boys fell to HAC, 46-36, Wednesday, Jan. 3. Clancey recorded 18 points and Webster had nine.

Indoor Track
The Dundee-Bradford indoor track teams competed at Nazareth, Saturday, Jan. 6. Top finishers included Madison Hughes who took fifth in the 55 meter dash and fifth in the long jump. Hamilton Iszard was tied for fourth in the high jump.

Wrestling
The Dundee-Bradford wrestling team traveled to Odessa for their annual duals matchup, Saturday, Jan. 6. The BraveScots beat Thomas A Edison, 36-18 during the event.
Competitive wins came from Connor Erick (pin 0:33), Marcus Chilson (pin 1:07), Gage Machuga (pin 3:20), Caleb Bartlett (pin 1:02) and Peyton Mullin (pin 0:58).

Penn Yan
Bowling
The Penn Yan Mustangs bowling teams traveled to Sunset Bowl to take on the Waterloo Tigers, Thursday, Jan. 4. The Lady Mustangs swept the Tigers, 5-0, and remain undefeated after six matches. The boys challenged Waterloo, but were unable to take any points.
The girls won 2586-1760. The boys' final score was 2761-2960.
Anella Tillman led the girls with a 562 series. Connor Andersen led the boys with a 715 series.

Indoor Track
The Penn Yan indoor track teams competed at Nazareth, Saturday, Jan. 6. Leading the competitors were: James Tette took first in the 3,200 meter run (9:50.55). Anthony Sciallo won the shot put event with a 46' 9" throw.
Anthony Wheeler finished second in the 600 meter run and the 1,000 meter run. Eva Smith was fourth in the 1,000 meter run. Ameina Samultalski took fifth in the 3,000 meter run
The girls 4x400 meter relay team and boys 4x400 meter relay teams were fifth.

Boys Basketball
The Penn Yan boys basketball team lost to Newark, Wednesday, Jan. 3. The final score was 96-51.

Girls Basketball
The Penn Yan girls basketball lost to Newark, 40-30, Friday, Jan. 5. The team also fell to Dansville, Wednesday, Jan. 3. The final score was 50-32.

Hammondsport
Boys Basketball
The Hammondsport boys basketball team won against Campbell-Savona, Thursday, Jan. 4. The final score was 96-48.

Girls Basketball
The Hammondsport girls basketball team beat Campbell-Savona, 42-24, Friday, Jan. 5.

Wrestling (Avoca-Prattsburgh/Hammondsport)
The Avoca-Prattsburgh/Hammondsport wrestling team competed at the Perry Varsity Club Wrestling Tournament, Saturday, Jan. 6. The team was ninth overall.
Justin Wise and Chase Mummey were second-place finishers losing in the finals. Orion Davis was fifth and Hudson Cole took sixth.

Watkins Glen
Swimming (WG&O-M)
The Schuyler Strom swim team hosted competitors from around the region, Saturday, Jan. 6. The team was seventh overall with 147 points against 12 schools. Shenendehowa won with 542 points.
Liam Smith was seventh in the 200 yard IM and was eighth in the 500 free. Jeremiah Desrochers took ninth in the diving competition. Ryan Dean was seventh in the 100 backstroke and 11th in 100 yard butterfly. Vinnie Ocasio finished eighth in the 100 yard freestyle. Carson Thaete was 10th in the 500 free. The 200 yard free relay team was fourth and the 400 yard freestyle relay team finished sixth.

Boys Basketball
The Watkins Glen boys basketball team lost to Trumansburg, 76-59, Friday, Jan. 5. Ryan Willett paced the team with 22 points. Alex Holmes and Christopher Simiele each had eight.

Indoor Track
The Watkins Glen indoor track team competed in the Hurley Invitational at Ithaca College, Friday, Jan. 5.
Madison Tuttle was second in the 1500 meter racewalk. The boys 4x200 relay took seventh with a 1:43.02.


Odessa-Montour
Wrestling (O-M&WG)
The Odessa-Montour and Watkins Glen wrestling team hosted the Odessa Duals, Saturday, Jan. 6. The team was second overall. Marathon won the day with a 5-0 record. They were the only team to beat O-M/WG, 42-35.
In that match, competitive wins were recorded by Lucas Hoffman (16-1), Riley Yaw (pin 2:38),   Hunter Barrett (pin 5:02), Dana Guild (pin 0:15) and Aidan Summers (pin 1:46).

Girls Basketball
The Odessa-Montour girls basketball team fell to Groton, 45-31, Friday, Jan. 5.
The girls also lost to Candor, Wednesday, Jan. 3. The final score was 59-40. Leah Antes recorded 18 points and six steals. Gina Gavich posted 11 points and four assists. Evvie Zinger added seven points.

Boys Basketball
The Odessa-Montour boys basketball team lost to Groton, Thursday, Jan. 4. The final score was 53-47.
