SPORTS RECAP: Week of 4-27-21

Watkins Glen
Softball
The Watkins Glen softball team lost to Notre Dame, 17-2, Thursday, April 21. Brenna Pierce was on the mound and Lois Hosley was catching.
The team also fell to Thomas A. Edison, Wednesday, April 20. The final score was 22-3. Olivia King pitched for the Senecas.

Watkins Glen/Odessa-Montour Baseball
The Seneca Indians baseball team lost to Trumansburg, 9-6, Friday, April 22. Dominick Fazzary and Ryan Willett each had two hits. Daniel Lewis recorded seven strikeouts.

Lacrosse
The Watkins Glen lacrosse team fell to Chenango Forks, 26-0, Saturday, April 23.
The lacrosse team also lost to Seton Catholic, Thursday, April 21. The final score was 18-3.

Tennis
The Watkins Glen tennis team defeated Newark Valley, 4-1, Friday, April 22. Recording wins were: Jason Murphy, Matthew Sandritter, Alannah Klemann and Faye Mooney, and Skylar Lagramada and Katrina Ricca.
The tennis team lost to Edison, Thursday, April 21. Murphy recorded the only victory in singles.
The tennis team also lost to Notre Dame, Wednesday, April 20. Singles player Murphy, and doubles players Klemann and Mooney won in the match.

Odessa-Montour
Softball
The Odessa-Montour softball team lost to Newfield, 16-4, Friday, April 22.
The Odessa softball team also fell to Spencer-Van Etten, Wednesday, April 20. The final score was 21-0.

Track
The Odessa-Montour track team finished fourth at the Tioga Twisted Track Meet, Friday, April 22.

Dundee-Bradford
Softball
The BraveScots softball team coasted to an easy victory over Marcus Whitman, 21-2, Saturday, April 23. In the first inning, Dundee-Bradford got their offense started when Mikayla Schoffner tripled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.
Morgan Sutryk got the win for the BraveScots with 12 strikeouts and also had a home run at the plate.
Dundee-Bradford racked up 16 hits. Addie Kendall, Morgan Sutryk, Kailey Yeoman, Madison Sutryk, and Abigail Miller all had multiple hits for the day. Madison Sutryk also led the team with three stolen bases.
The softball team defeated Red Jacket, 22-2, Friday, April 22. The BraveScots scored ten runs in the fourth inning. The rally was led by walks by Schoffner and Morgan Sutryk, singles by Brieonna Bayer and Schoffner, doubles by Morgan Sutryk and Madison Sutryk, and a fielder's choice by Courtney Gibson.
Kendall led things off on the rubber for Dundee-Bradford. She allowed two hits and two runs over four innings, striking out five.
At the plate, the team had 11 hits. Schoffner led with three hits in four at-bats.
The BraveScots also beat South Seneca/Romulus, Wednesday, April 20. The final score was 19-2.
Kendall recorded seven strikeouts on the mound. Dundee-Bradford had 19 hits in the game. Sutryk led with five hits in six at-bats.

Baseball
The Dundee-Bradford baseball team lost to Prattsburgh-Avoca, 10-0, Saturday, April 23.
The baseball team also fell to Red Jacket, 18-0, Friday, April 22.
The BraveScots won over Hammondsport, 21-11, Thursday, April 21. Logan Ayers and Logan Snyder each had four hits and four RBIs in the game. The team had 29 stolen bases during the game as seven players stole more than one. Nick Slavick led the way with five.

Track and Field
The Dundee-Bradford track team competed at the John Reed Invitational, Saturday, April 23.
Leading the team were:
Hallie Knapp was first in the girls shot put (27' 6.5") and also in the discus (97' 5"). Madison Hughes was first in the long jump with a 15' 5" jump. Lily Hall was first in the triple jump (31' 6") and was third in the long jump. Kendall Parker took third in the 100 meter dash and fourth in the 200.
Camden Buchanan was first in the boys triple jump (42' 0.5"), second in the long jump and third in the 100 meter dash. Hayden Erick was second in the triple jump and third in the long jump. Riley Teeter won the shot put with a 38' 8" throw and also the discus (103' 11").

Penn Yan
Softball
The Penn Yan softball team defeated Geneva 14-4, Friday, April 22. Pitcher Giana Ficcaglia had 10 strikeouts on the mound and a home run at the plate. Julia Maldonado added two doubles in the game.
The Mustangs fell to Wayne 4-3, Wednesday, April 22. Ficcaglia had 11 strikeouts in the game. Hailey Trank recorded a triple, while Maldonado and Elle Harrison each had doubles.

Boys Lacrosse
The Penn Yan boys lacrosse team fell to Fairport, 13-1, Saturday, April 23. Tukker Fisher scored one goal and Griffin Emerson made five saves, while Will Thompson had two.
The boys topped Geneva, 8-6, Thursday, April 21. Carter Earl recorded four goals, Bryant VanHousen had two and Braden Fingar and Teagen Fingar each had one. Caden Dixon recorded one assist and Emerson made 12 saves.
The Mustangs defeated Waterloo, Tuesday, April 19. The final score was 17-2. Earl scored four goals, while Teagen Fingar, Frank Ochoa and Dixon each had three. VanHousen scored twice and Fingar and Fisher both had one goal. Emerson made three saves and Thompson had two.

Girls Lacrosse
The Penn Yan girls lacrosse team defeated Hilton 13-10, Saturday, April 23. Bailey Cooper and Kaley Griffin each had three goals. Avery Castner, Maihue Miranda-Wiltberger and Jammie Decker all scored two. Corinne Barden added one goal. Hannah Parsons made five saves in the cage.
The lacrosse team beat Geneva, Wednesday, April 20. The final score was 14-6. Griffin led the team with six goals and two assists. Cooper and Castner each had three. Parsons made two saves.

Baseball
The Penn Yan baseball team fell to Geneva 7-5, Thursday, April 21. Offensively the Mustangs were led by sophomore Liam Chapman who was 2-for-3 at the plate with a walk and two runs scored. Brady Bouchard had a double and other Mustangs in the hit column were Riley Griffiths, Reed Bouchard, Alex Foster and Brigham Hansen. Sophomore Brady Bouchard pitched a complete game recording 14 strikeouts. Bouchard has thrown 18 innings so far this season with 38 strikeouts.
The Mustangs beat Wayne in exciting fashion, Wednesday, April 20. The Mustangs tallied 13 hits including a go-ahead grand slam home run by Brady Bouchard in the bottom of the sixth which put Penn Yan up 9-8. Wayne fought back to tie the game in the top of the seventh, but Penn Yan's bats would prevail when Chapman hit a walk-off two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth to give Penn Yan their fourth win of the season.

Track and Field
The Penn Yan track team competed at the John Reed Invitational, Saturday, April 23.
Anthony Wheeler was first in the boys 800 meter run. James Tette won the 3200 and the 3000 steeplechase. Anthony Sciallo was second in the shot put, while Gabe Hopkins was third. Sciallo was also second in the discus, whereas Alec Bensen was third.
Ava Vogt took third in the girls high jump. Rayna Rios was second in the discus and third in the shot put.

Boys Tennis
The Penn Yan tennis team fell to North Rose-Wolcott, 3-2, Friday, April 22. First and second singles players Landon Spears and Alex Reyes-Leon recorded wins for the Mustangs.
Penn Yan defeated Mynderse, Wednesday, April 20. In singles, Reyes-Leon and Spears were victorious as were doubles players, Nathaniel Chaffee and Carter Hanley, and Jack Grabski and Collin Reagan.

Hammondsport
Baseball
The Hammondsport baseball team lost to Campbell-Savona 21-0, Friday, April 22. The team also lost to Dundee-Bradford, 21-11, Thursday, April 11. Chris Hill recorded six strikeouts in the game.

Softball
The Hammondsport softball team lost three games last week. They fell to Campbell-Savona 10-4, Belfast/Genesee Valley 18-5 and Wayland-Cohocton 28-12.

Track and Field
The Hammondsport track team competed at the John Reed Invitational, Saturday, April 23. Emmy O'Neill was second in the girls 1500 meter run and third in the 3000 meter. Gabrielle Doyle was third in the 2000 meter steeplechase.
Nevin Davis finished second in the boys 400 meter dash and also in the 200. Luke Szathmary was third in the 110 meter hurdles..
