Barrington meeting 01/05

Meeting:  The Barrington town board met for 45 minutes, Dec. 30, 2008 and again Jan. 5, 2009 for one hour and a half.
Attendance:  Freeman Freeman was the only board member absent from the Dec. 30 meeting.  There were four members of the public present.
Action:  The board approved a number of fund transfers to pay for the salt barn, the town’s new GMC truck and for the garage restoration.  The funds were transferred from accounts where they were not being used.  The total amount transferred was $69,243.  Funds the money came out of included the hospital insurance for the highway department.
• The board agreed on increasing the base for the senior citizen property tax assessment.  Supervisor Eileen Farnan said they did not need a public hearing in order to pass it.
• Salaries were set for town officials and the pay schedule was set for highway employees.
• Ken Christensen is now an alternate to attend KWIK meetings.
Discussion without action:  Farnan said that if the board had any comments on the wastewater code handbook revisions, they needed to be given by Jan. 9.
• Sue Lange reported on the planning board meeting about subdivision laws.  She said that about 20 landowners showed up and four volunteered to help them work on the subdivision law.
• The boom mower agreement was tabled again because the town has not heard back from the town of Jerusalem yet.
• Positions still need to be filled on the auxiliary boards.  A regular and alternate position are empty on the zoning board of appeals and an alternate position is empty on the planning board.
• Applications for the ethics board nominating committee are no longer being accepted.  The town board will plan on interviewing applicants at the end of the month meeting.  The nominating committee will then be in charge of finding people for the actual ethics board.
• Farnan said that Bill Holgate was the only county legislature that responded to the letters sent out inviting legislatures to attend Barrington town board meetings.  She said that he would be trying to come once a month to be up to date on what was going on in Barrington.
• The town’s new GMC truck is expected to be delivered this week.  The last update on it was that parts were being repainted so it all matches.
Bids/purchases over $1,000:  None.
Appointments/resignations:  None.
Upcoming meetings:  The next regular board meeting will be Wednesday, Jan. 28.
