Legislature will decide on ambulance service contract

SCHUYLER COUNTY--Last week, Schuyler County Legislators discussed the proposed contract with Cayuga Health Transport, the entity established by Cayuga Health Systems, to provide ambulance services in Schuyler County. Earlier, the legislature decided the contract should go through the normal process, which meant the contract was sent to the Public Safety/Criminal Justice Committee. This committee met last week to discuss the contract and decided to move the contract forward.
The process continues on Nov. 9, when legislators expect to address the Cayuga Health Transport contract. According to County Administrator Fonda Chronis, if legislators approve the contract, the chairman will sign it. Chronis also explained that "the spirit of the contract is that Cayuga Health Transport will negotiate mutual aid agreements with everybody that they can."
