Meeting: The Jerusalem town board met for approximately two and one quarter hours, June 17.
Attendance: Council member Loretta Hopkins was absent. Ten members of the public were in the audience.
Action: Tabled action on Special Use permits associated with multiple units.
• The proposed changes in town addresses was discussed before a vote was taken. Sections on the process to assign numbers and guidelines for assigning numbers were approved by the board. The first section, naming of roads, was sent back to committee. Councilman Ray Stewart said, “There is no way we can do anything about the first proposal tonight. We have to hammer out something we can all live with.”
• Agreed to advertise again for a cleaner for the town buildings.
Discussion without action: Discussed fees for septic inspection for real property transfers. The possibility of the fee being paid up front was included.
• Engineer for the town of Wayne Ackart reported town representatives attended the Penn Yan Municipal Utilities Board meeting, June 11. Pulteney Supervisor Bill Webber spoke to the board regarding  the municipalities that purchase water from the village. Ackart said those municipalities own 52.4 percent of the facility and pay for 52.4 percent of it. Benton supervisor Bob Clark asked the village to consider the outside municipalities as customers rather than partners, adding, “We do not have the option to leave. There is too much invested.”
• Ackart told the board Jerusalem used seven million gallons less than they were billed for last year. He said the rate increase of approximately 10 cents per 1,000 gallons should be more than offset by the overpayment. He said the meetings with the village municipal board are the beginning of a new page in the book.
• Ackart updated the board on a petition to add Sewer District Three to the town, outlining the process that is required. The area in question is near Keuka College.
• The board heard a report on the Subdivision Committee from chairperson Tom Close. The town planning board has the first draft of the document.
• Highway superintendent Bob Payne reported there was minimal damage considering the amount of rain that fell last week. Crews are moving along with oil and stone on roads and hope to finish before the Fourth of July.
• Councilman Neil Simmons reported a registered nurse has been hired for the summer recreation program. Simmons said this is now a New York State Department of Health requirement with the key being the distance the town is from a hospital.
• Town resident Eleanor Williams spoke to the board about a truck parking near her property, asking the town to post no parking signs.  She said that was the recommendation of the NYS Department of Transportation (DOT) representative she spoke with. Councilman Ray Stewart said the truck is parked on a DOT lot on a state highway, commenting, “I don’t know why they are asking us to do their job.” Town supervisor Daryl Jones said if the signs were requested for that area, the town might need to ask for no parking signs every 200 feet on Rt. 54A. Simmons asked if the town could help find out who owns vehicles that are parked in that area and that then Williams could send them a letter stating her concerns. Jones suggested the town get clarification on the issue from DOT.
Bids/purchases over $1,000: Approved a proposal from Keuka Lake Association for sharing some of the cost of a software upgrade needed by Keuka Lake Watershed Improvement Cooperative in the amount $1,500.
Appointments/resignations: Jim Crevelling will serve on the subdivision committee, replacing Ron Rubin who has been appointed to the Yates County Planning Board.
Upcoming meetings: July 15 at 7 p.m. in the town hall on Italy Hill Road.
