Beverly Pierce Bond, 92, of Hector passed away Monday, Aug. 25, 2025.
The family received friends at the Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, 212 E. 4th St., Watkins Glen, Friday, Aug. 29 from 1-3 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 3 p.m.; burial at Hector Presbyterian Cemetery. A reception will be announced.
Beverly was born Aug. 5, 1933 in Pennsylvania to Frances and Dorothy (Kriner) Hodge.
She was a member of the Reading Center Community Church and was a scout leader for many years. She won many archery tournaments over the years. She was also an avid quilt maker and enjoyed Sunday breakfast with the family. She was always willing to help her family and friends.
She retired from Hazlitt 1852 Vineyards in Hector. She was a graduate of Dundee Central School (Class of 1951) and was a lifelong Yankee fan. Her favorite country music singers were Eddy Arnold and Hank Williams.
Beverly was predeceased by her parents, Frances and Dorothy (Kriner) Hodge, stepmother Louise (Smalley) Hodge, husband, George Bond Sr., Arthur Pierce Sr.; siblings, Joyce (Curtis) Keefer, Richard, David, Jack and Dean; stepchildren, Patricia Bond, Susan (Larry) Caslin, Charles (Lisa) Bond, Bruce (Angela) Bond, Timothy (Kathy) Bond and Larry Bond.
She is survived by her children Barbara (Ed) Corriveau, Arthur Pierce, Penny (Jeff) Mapes, Kevin Pierce, Wendy Pierce and Martin Pierce and her stepchildren Linda Knapp, George Jr. (Rita) Bond, Debra (Skip) Opdyke, Viola (Paul) Woodworth, Craig (David) Bond and Leslie (Scott) Crane. She is also survived by four siblings, Roxanne Jones, Debbie Kern, Sandy Hodge and Patty Warner; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to Seneca View and Schuyler Hospital for their compassionate care of Beverly. Luther C. Perkins of Hammondsport died Aug. 20 at his home.
He was born July 2, 1928 in the town of Wayne, to Luther and Stella Bason Perkins. He graduated from Dundee Central School in 1946, and from Alfred State in 1948, with a degree in Rural Engineering. He served two years with the U.S. Army Signal Corp, one year in Germany with the 321st Signal Battalion in 1952.
He and his father owned and operated Perkins and Son Hardware in the village of Hammondsport for 28 years. After the sale of the business in 1976, he was employed by the school district as a bus driver, and as a Blue Bird bus parts salesman for Western New York.
He served a term as a town councilman and in 1984 the town of Urbana appointed him sole assessor, a position he held until his retirement in 1995. During this time he served as president of the Steuben County Assessors Association. The town of Urbana also appointed him voting machine custodian.
After his retirement he joined the American Red Cross DSHR System and traveled to many areas in the U.S. as well as Puerto Rico and Guam in order to assist victims of disasters.
He was very active in his church, St. Gabriel, where he was a lay reader, and Eucharist Minister, and served on the building and grounds committee.
He was a volunteer docent for the Glenn Curtiss Museum. He served on the advisory board of the Office for the Aging. He was a member of the board of directors of the American Red Cross Northern Steuben County Chapter during the time it merged with Corning and Hornell to become the Greater Steuben County Chapter.
Luther was a 4th Degree Knight and active with the Precious Blood Council #5147 in Bath, where he served as Grand Knight for two terms, and as treasurer of the Bingo Association for 11 years.
Other organizations to which he contributed include the Loaves and Fishes Pantry, Project Care, Hammondsport Ambulance Corps, of which he was a charter and honorary member, the Institute for Human Services, and the American Heart Association. He was a member of the American Legion Post #407.
Luther was predeceased by his beloved wife Lucyna and by his son Kenneth. He is survived by his three sons, Patrick (Kim), Neal, John (Tammy), and daughter Cynthia; three granddaughters, Kara (Tom) Wheeler, Sarah (Don) Gantz, Stella Perkins and grandsons Kyle Perkins, John, Justin, Joshua, Kenneth and Dylan (Koryn) Cecce, and 19 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Gabriel Oct. 4 at 11 a.m., followed by a Celebration of Life reception at the American Legion Post #407. Burial will be at the National Cemetery of the Veterans Administration Center in Bath at a later date.

Karen Marie (Doolittle) Bartone, 78, of Watkins Glen passed away Thursday, Aug. 21, 2025. She was born in Montour Falls Nov. 27, 1946.
Karen, KB, was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all who knew her. KB loved and laughed a lot. She gave freely of herself, offering care, compassion and a warm smile to the young, the elderly and everyone in between. She was generous even to strangers, always willing to help when she saw a need. Her home was open to anyone who came to her door. Karen was a pet lover, and she cherished her animals deeply.
Quite simply, Karen was kind. She learned this from her own mother which she later instilled in Lisa, Tony and Nick. We will continue the practice of this lesson for the rest of our lives.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents Jack and Kathryn Doolittle. She is survived by her children Lisa (Jason) Confer, Tony (Sue) Bartone and Nick Bartone; her grandchildren, whom she adored, Chad, Tate, Jordan, Nick, Cal and Caleb. She is also survived by her siblings, John Doolittle (Barb Donnell), Peggy (Jim) Scott and Cheri Doolittle; and her former husband, David Bartone.
The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to KB’s special team for their dedication and care in her final months, when she needed it the most.
Relatives and friends are invited to call Thursday, Aug. 28 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in the Link at St. Mary’s of the Lake Church, 905 N. Decatur St., Watkins Glen. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30 a.m. Private burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Watkins Glen. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to your local humane society.

Sheradith Hope Fultz, 86, of Campbell passed away peacefully Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2025 in the comfort of her home.
Friends were invited to calling hours from 5-7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 18 at the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water St., Dundee, where her funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, with Pastor Lawrence Semans officiating. Inurnment will be in Hillside Cemetery at the convenience of the family. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date to be announced.
Memorial contributions may be made to the National Audubon Society, 225 Varick St., 7th Floor, New York, NY 10014.
Hope was born July 15, 1939 in Elmira, the middle daughter of Glenn J. and Edith Mae (Buck) Vedder. She graduated from Watkins Glen High School in 1957. She moved to Endicott with her brother and worked for Endicott Shoes before getting married, July 29, 1961 in Wellsboro, Pennsylvania to Martin M. Fultz Jr. who passed away April 5, 1998. While raising her family, she was employed as a waitress and event assistant for Hilton, and Holiday Inn in Corning. Later in life Hope became a loved home health care aid for various families in Steuben County, a job she loved up until a few years ago. Mrs. Fultz volunteered for her local election board; and loved flowers, and watching birds and animals.
A loving mother and grandmother, she will be dearly missed by a son, Martin L. Fultz of Penn Yan; her two daughters, Rhonda L. Wright of Campbell and Karen L. Graham with whom she made her home; eight grandchildren, Holly (Dillon) Haag, Stephanie Fultz, Robert Wright, Ryan Wright, Jessica Demyan, Angela (Derek) Nichols, Zachary (McKayla Dumbleton) Hoke and Kristy (Jason) Heffner; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Ben (Joyce) Vedder of Himrod, and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by two sisters, Charity B. Ovenshire in 1992 and Faith G. Haight-McDowell in 2021.

Johanna “Joey” Lochner of Himrod passed away peacefully Aug. 11, 2025, with her husband by her side. Joey’s warmth, humor, and kindness touched everyone she met. She worked as a para educator in the Webster Central School District, hairdresser, and later in Finger Lakes winery tasting rooms, always bringing joy to those around her. She is survived by her husband, Tom; children, Matt (Rachel) and Maria (Kevin); and four beloved grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, Aug. 24, 1-4 p.m., at Tabora Farm & Winery, 4978 Lakemont Himrod Road, Dundee. All are welcome.

Dr. James Edward Luke, 81, passed away peacefully with family in Corry, Pennsylvania, Sunday, Aug. 17, 2025. Jim was born in Bradford, Pennsylvania June 18, 1944 to Robert John Luke and Dorothy Irene Layfield. After graduating from St. Bernard Catholic School, he achieved a B.S., M.S., and then a Ph.D. in entomology from Penn State University. He worked for Ciba-Giegy conducting research on various agricultural products while farming grapes as a hobby. In 1977, he made the full transition to farming, starting Luke Farms in Dundee. Luke Farms produced three different grape varieties along with blueberries, peaches, cherries, raspberries and corn. Jim went on to operate several businesses including an Agriculture Research Company, A.C.D.S., in Phelps, and the Gold and Silver Exchange in Canandaigua.
At various points throughout his career, he taught math, science and small engine repair. He was a principal for both St. Mary’s Elementary School in Potsdam, New York and Morristown Central School in Morristown, New York. He finished his career working for the state of New York at the social services office in Penn Yan, retiring in 2011.
Jim was an avid hunter, fisherman, biologist, woodworker and conservationist. He taught hunter safety education for over 40 years and was passionate about educating children. He belonged to the Himrod Field and Stream Conservation Club, the Penn Yan Moose Club, the National Wild Turkey Federation, and was a lifetime NRA member.
Jim is preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Marilyn J. Nielsen; an infant daughter, Catherine; and a brother, Robert Alexander. He is survived by his daughters: Elizabeth Ann (Curt) Meeder and grandsons Henry and Daniel; Christina Irene (Christopher) Brink and grandson Christopher Connor; Victoria Marie (Kyle) Boehmer and grandsons James, Alexander, and John. He is also survived by a brother, Raymond John (Catherine) Luke; a son, David (Joyce) Neely with granddaughter Brenda (Tim) Houk and great-granddaughters Emilee and Abigail; and a significant friend Cartha Conklin.
Family and friends are invited to calling hours Friday, Aug. 22, 2025 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water St., Dundee. A private inurnment will be held at Hillside Cemetery, Dundee.

Eva is survived by her husband, Aaron M. Martin; children, Lamar (MaryAnn) Martin of Penn Yan, Darla Martin of Bath, Lisa (John Isaac) Martin of Branchport, Aaron Ray (Grace Ann) Martin of Penn Yan, Eva Jeanette (Eugene) Horning of Gap, Pennsylvania and Susan (Glenn David) Hoover of Himrod; grandmother of 31; siblings, Irene (late Aden) Weaver of Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, Martha (Reuben) Zimmerman of Owen, Wisconsin, Harvey (Ellen) Burkholder of Stevens, Pennsylvania, John Dan Jr. (Rachel) Burkholder of Leola, Pennsylvania, Ervin Burkholder of Reading, Pennsylvania and Alta (John) Newswanger of Stanley.
She was predeceased by her parents, John Dan and Kathryn Burkholder and her brother Clarence (Margaret) Burkholder.
Family, friends and neighbors called Sunday, Aug. 17, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at her home, 2755 State Route 14, Penn Yan.
Service Monday Aug. 18, at 9:30 a.m. at the Eastview Mennonite Church, Lakemont-Himrod and Beardsley Road, Himrod.

Mary Louise Ward, 93, of Dundee passed away Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2025 in the comfort of her home with her family by her side.
Honoring her wishes there are no prior calling hours, and her services will be private at the convenience of her family.

Mary was born Dec. 29, 1931 in Shinglehouse, Pennsylvania, one of eight children of Leon L. and Florence Pearl (Hillyard) Hurd. She has lived in New York since 1949, previously of Bath. On May 29, 1959 in the Penn Yan Methodist Church she married Dale Edward Ward who passed away March 12, 2019. A former employee of Westinghouse in Bath, she had also worked for Seneca Foods. While raising her family from 1962-1978, she enjoyed working at Fred’s Chicken House in Dundee. After Fred’s she worked for several years at the Ranch House, the bowling alley, and Dundee Pharmacy, finally retiring in 1996. Mary was also a former member of the Dundee F.D. Ladies Auxiliary.
She is dearly loved and will be forever missed by her daughter Barbara J. Centurelli with whom she made her home in the last few years; and two sons, Thomas L. Woodruff Sr. of Sherwood, Arkansas, and Michael D. Ward who lived right next door to her; six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Harry (Kathy) Hurd of Winder, Georgia, Robert Hurd of South Carolina and Roy Hurd of Apopka, Florida; a sister, Betty Hamilton of Hornell; sister-in-law Joyce (Ben) Vedder of Himrod and several nieces and nephews.
The family extends a special thank you to Juanita Schmidt for her loving, wonderful care, which allowed Mary to remain in her home. “Mary loved her like a daughter.”
Besides her husband she was predeceased by three brothers.

Robert “Bob” C. Hallock, 82, of Hannacroix, New York, passed away peacefully May 18, 2025 with family by his side.
Born July 6, 1942, Bob was the son of Cecil Charles and Betsy Miller Hallock. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 58 years, Ann Hallock, his brother Peter Hallock, and his sister Carolyn Hallock Hansen. He is survived by his brother Larry Hallock and many loving nieces and nephews.
After graduating University at Buffalo (Class of 1962), Bob spent his career in civil service for New York state. He followed in his father’s footsteps as town supervisor of New Baltimore, serving from 1982 to 1984 and again in 1990.
Bob designed and built their A-frame home with Ann in 1969 —modern, distinctive, and full of character, just like him. He was a talented pianist, often entertaining family, friends, and his church community. Known for his quick wit, he always had a joke ready to share.
He had a passion for cartoons, collecting elephants, and honoring local history. He devoted decades to the Bronck Museum and the Greene County Historical Society, where he frequently portrayed General Greene in educational programs.
A joint celebration of life for both Bob and Ann Hallock will be held Saturday, Aug. 23 at the First United Methodist Church of Coxsackie, with calling hours from 1–2 p.m. and a service at 2 p.m.

A priest, an imam, and a rabbit are donating blood. The nurse asks, “what’s your blood type?” The rabbit says, “well I don’t know about these guys, but I’m pretty sure I’m a typo.”

Emily H. Hoover, age 19 years, 7 months, 23 days of Rock Stream, passed away accidentally in a bicycle accident Monday Aug. 4, 2025.
The family received friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, at her family’s home, 4341 State Route 14A, Rock Stream. Her funeral service began at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, at the Gravel Run Mennonite Church, Ray Crosby Road, Dundee. Burial will be in Gravel Run Mennonite Church Cemetery.
Emily was born Dec. 12, 2005 in Penn Yan, the daughter of Ivan Ray and Rosella Hoover. Emily was a teacher at the Grape Country School, in Dundee.
She is survived by her parents; five brothers, Kevin (Lisa Ann) Hoover and their daughter, her only niece Elaina Beth Hoover of Rock Stream; Michael, Joshua, Carl, and Elton Hoover; five sisters, Jeanette, Sylvia, Rosalyn, Lynita, and Annalisa Hoover, all at home; maternal grandparents Eugene and Anna Hoover, paternal grandparents Ivan and Barbara Hoover, all of Dundee; maternal great-grandmother Alta Hoover of East Earl, Pennsylvania; her dear friend Keith Hurst and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
