PENN YAN

It's time for the car shows

PENN YAN, DUNDEE—The village of Penn Yan held its 17th annual Cruisin’ Night Friday, June 14. Main Street was closed to traffic for the event from the post office to the Main Street bridge so visitors could enjoy the cars, trucks, tractors and motorcycles.

The village of Dundee will also be holding its 13th annual Show & Go car show Wednesday, June 26 at Martini’s Save-a-Lot grocery store from 6 to 9 p.m. Local not-for-profits will provide food and drinks while Sheldon Gibson plays car tunes during the event. Businesses who sponsor the Show & Go will also be casually judging the vehicles during the show.

The first 50 people to register will receive a free T-shirt, while the first 125 registrants will receive a dashboard plaque. Participants can pre-register by sending the owner’s name and town, along with the year make and model of their vehicle to dundeecarshow@yahoo.com or by calling 607-243-7845. On-site registration begins at 5 p.m. Donations are also accepted.

Finishing up the month is the Military and Veterans Appreciation Event at Watkins Glen International during the Sunday, June 30, Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen. This day-long event includes free entry (via gate three) for active military personnel, veterans and their families with seating in the Seneca bleachers. Military vehicles will also be on display, as well as information on mental health services, education opportunities, veterans’ benefits, family benefits and counseling. Additional show vehicles are wanted. Interested people can pre-register for free at carshowqueen56@yahoo.com or call 607-243-7845 with the owner’s name, town, car year, make and model.
