Milo town board 02/17/09Meeting: Milo town board met for approximately 45 minutes Feb. 17 followed by an executive session to discuss personnel matters lasting approximately five minutes.Attendance: All council members were present. Four members of the public were in the audience. Action: The board voted to proceed with Grievance Day on the fourth Tuesday in May. Last year the date was changed due to assessor Randy Deal’s schedule. This was not an issue this year. • The board voted to send proposed amendments to the zoning law and proposed changes in the town code regarding administration costs and fees associated with developments. Several county municipalities are studying this type of change which would provide compensation for expenditures for items associated with large developments, such as engineering fees. • The proposed furnace law was to be sent to the town and county planning boards and the State Environmental Quality Review work begun. • The board reviewed request for additional funds for the Dundee summer recreation program. The board approved up to $388 in additional funds. Four youth who live in the town participated in the Dundee program last summer. Sixty percent of the available recreation funds are awarded to the Village of Penn Yan and 40 percent to the village of Dundee. The town needs figures from the Yates County Youth Bureau to assist in determining recreation funding. Town clerk Patricia Christensen said there is only $200 in the town budget for recreation. Discussion without action: Engineer for the town Wayne Ackart reported there has been another saddle break on the East Lake Road water district. • Bids documents will be due by mid-March for the roof on the highway barn. • Councilman Dale Hallings reported the Comprehensive Plan Committee will meet on February 18 and will be making final revisions to the document as well as setting a public hearing for the plan. • Hallings reported the Agriculture committee will meet on March 9 at 7 p.m. in the town hall. Appointments/Resignations: Judy Wiltberger was appointed as the town’s representative to the Yates County Planning Board. Her appointment will come up for approval by Yates County legislators at their March 9 meeting. • Phil Riehl was named to a seat on the town Zoning Board of Appeals. Bids/Purchases over $1,000: The board voted to purchase a tractor with mower at the state bid price of $66,983. They had received two bids for the equipment but the state bid was lower. Upcoming meetings: March 16 at 7 p.m. in the town hall on Main Street in Penn Yan. |
