Mustangs dominate in season opener

WAYNE--The Penn Yan Mustangs varsity football team won their season opener at Wayne Friday, Sept. 4, with a commanding 42-14 victory over the Eagles.
The team put up 36 unanswered points before giving up their first touchdown with just under six minutes left in the third quarter. Penn Yan's last two touchdowns came from long runs, which were the first plays of their respective offensive series.
"The kids executed very well," Head Coach David Fauth said. "We had a good game plan and they wanted it. They are hungry."

Tanner Irwin had 122 passing yards including two touchdowns, he also had six carries for 50 yards and two additional touchdowns. Dylan Stape recorded 137 yards with one touchdown and 13 tackles.
