WATKINS GLEN-The Watkins Glen and Odessa-Montour varsity wrestling teams competed in the Interscholastic Athletic Conference wrestling championship, Saturday, Jan. 31.
As a team, Watkins finished in second place with 186.5 points. Odessa was ninth with 73.5 points. Newark Valley took the top spot with 210.5 points.
In the championship finals for first and second place, Watkins had six wrestlers competing. They were: Brandon Gould (126), Nicholas Cocola (152), Josh Burge (170), Ian Chedzoy (182), Kurtis Edwards (195) and Colton Arcangeli (285).
Gould took first place, bringing his season record to 41-0, with a win 6-3. Chedzoy won 15-0 for first place and Arcangeli pinned his opponent in the second period for the title.
Taking second were: Cocola (decision, 0-4), Burge (decision, 5-7) and Edwards (decision, 5-9).
Odessa-Montour's Joe Rorick (120) took second after losing in the finals 16-6.
