Watkins ties for third, Odessa fifth in swimming championship
WATKINS GLEN-The Watkins Glen girls varsity swim team placed third in the Interscholastic Athletic Conference Championships, while Odessa-Montour was fifth, Saturday, Nov. 1. For the Senecas, Lexi Castellaneta claimed first in the one meter diving competition, while Victoria Wixson was first in the 100 yard backstroke (1:03.21) and second in the 200 yard IM (2:22.81). The 200 yard medley relay team (Peighton Cervoni, Katherine Meehan, Wixson, and Emma Allington) placed second (2:01.14). The 200 yard freestyle relay team (Wixson, Meehan, Cervoni, and Allington) was fourth. The 400 yard freestyle relay team (Madeleine Ross, Sarah Gardner, Halle Phillips, and Bridgette Guild) was fifth. Allington was third in the 50 yard freestyle (26.53) and fourth in the 100 yard freestyle (59.32). Peighton placed fourth in the 50 yard freestyle (27.69). Meehan took third in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:14.31). Tori Reese was the top O-M finisher taking fifth in the 100 breaststroke with a personal record of 1:18.82. She also took eighth in the 100 fly (1:17.12). Syria Tague finished in sixth place in the 100 free with a personal record of 1:01.85 and seventh in the 100 back with a personal record of 1:11.37. Emelia Paulisczak was ninth in both the 200 free and the 500 free. The 200 medley relay team (Gabby Cain, Reese, Tague, and Emma Raymond) took fifth in 2:15.30, a personal record. The 200 free relay team (Tague, Raymond, Paulisczak and Reese) was sixth with 1:56.04, a personal record. The 400 free relay team (Lovona Carrigan, Maddie Lodge, McKenna Carberry, and Paulisczak was sixth in 4:56.42.
